Marina Countdown

We rang the New Year with a bang! We joined the biggest New Year countdown celebration in town at the Marina Barrage with beautiful bright lights as backdrop. The wonderful scenery was complemented by the dazzling Helix Bridge and various other new attractions and amenities at Marina Bay.

The countdown to a brand new year was a huge hit to the big crowd! The tranquil waters of the bay reflected the dazzling fireworks above Singapore's iconic cityscape.

Part of the countdown is a special lighting sequence with spheres/balloon waters. It was a delight to see this display in green, generally associated with health, prosperity, and harmony.

In red...corresponding with fire, symbolizes good fortune and joy. Red is found everywhere during Chinese New Year and other holidays and family gatherings.

Blue symbolizes immortality. Dark blue is also a color for somber occasions.

A lighter version of blue.

During the Han Dynasty, bright purple was  often regarded as an extremely precious and rare color. In the Tang dynasty, the color purple was used in the clothing of officials ranking  above the "fifth class" and was a color favored by royal court members. Purple borders were considered elegant.

Yellow, which is corresponding with earth is considered the most beautiful color. The Chinese saying, Yellow generates Yin and Yang, implies that yellow is the center of everything. Associated with but ranked above brown, yellow signifies neutrality and good luck.

Yellow was the color of Imperial China and is held as the symbolic color of the five legendary emperors of ancient China. Yellow often decorates royal palaces, altars and temples, and the color was used in the robes and attire of the emperors.

Yellow also represents freedom from worldly cares and is thus esteemed in Buddhism. Monks’ garments are yellow, as are elements of Buddhist temples. Yellow is also used as a mourning color for Chinese Buddhists.
